This guide provides general planning information. Product, technical, legal and tax requirements should be verified for your own business.

Start at the counter

A feature list does not show whether billing will remain comfortable during a rush. Test the exact sequence your staff uses: finding an item, changing quantity, applying an allowed discount, selecting payment and reprinting a receipt.

  • Keyboard, barcode and touch workflows
  • Returns, exchanges and cancelled bills
  • Split payments, credit sales and refunds
  • Hold-and-resume orders where needed

Check stock and purchasing

Decide whether you need simple quantity tracking or a deeper workflow involving variants, batches, expiry dates, multiple units or locations. Ask what happens when the physical count differs from the system.

  • Purchase entry and supplier records
  • Low-stock alerts and stock adjustments
  • Variants such as size, colour or weight
  • Transfers between counters, stores or warehouses

Test the environment, not only the demo

Confirm compatibility with the devices you will actually use. Printers, barcode scanners, weighing scales and payment integrations can behave differently across operating systems and models.

If internet service is unreliable, define which actions must continue offline and how data will synchronize afterward. Offline support is a workflow decision, not a single checkbox.

Protect access to your business data

Ask how backups, exports, user permissions and audit history work. Confirm where the data is stored, how you can retrieve it and what support is available during sales hours.

  • Role-based access for owners and staff
  • Backup schedule and restore testing
  • Export formats for accounts and analysis
  • Migration plan if you change systems
